Buttock augmentation, or gluteal augmentation, is used to improve the contour, size, and/or shape of the buttocks. This is done through the use of buttock implants.

In addition to buttock augmentation procedures, a buttock lift can be accomplished by the surgical removal of soft tissue.

Who is a suitable candidate for the buttock augmentation procedure?

Good candidates for buttock augmentation should be unhappy with the overall appearance of their buttocks and desire a fuller and rounder-looking butt. Candidates should be in good overall health and close to their ideal body weight.

What happens during the butt augmentation procedure?

The whole procedure is performed under general anesthesia and can take about 2.5 hours. The incision will be hidden in the gluteal crease’s top and won’t be easily visible. You will have to avoid sitting directly on the butt for about three weeks. However, it is okay to walk or lie down during the healing period. At the beginning of your postoperative period, you might experience some discomfort. The implants need somewhere between 2 to 3 months to settle.

Is it possible that my implant might move around after the procedure?

Even though it is possible, the chances of your implants rotating or shifting are extremely low. The implant should stay in place and retain natural appearance.

Can my implants rupture and start leaking silicone inside my body?

Most of the implants that are used for buttock augmentation procedures are solid silicone implants so no leaking will occur in the event of a rupture.
