IPL and Hair Removal
Conveniently located to serve Detroit
Introducing Nordlys by Ellipse, the Most Versatile Laser System to Date.
Getting IPL and hair removal in Detroit is a way to remove unwanted hairs and address a variety of skin imperfections. The state-of-the-art Nordlys platform can be used to accomplish both IPL treatment and IPL hair removal.
Described as “Scandinavia’s best kept aesthetic secret,” Nordlys offers several functions in one system, and in doing so, combines the treatment possibilities that otherwise would require several different lasers into one. Nordlys has an infrared laser for treatment of large vessels and a fractionated laser for skin aging. It can also be used for both the treatment of dermatological and aesthetic conditions including hair removal, leg veins, facial veins, and sun damaged skin. This one laser can do it all. Ellipse has reset the limitations on treatments, allowing doctors to further expand treatment possibilities such as leg and facial telangiectasia, port wine stains, and rosacea. The small spot applicators also allow doctors to reach small areas that were previously difficult to treat accurately without affecting the surrounding skin.
What’s the difference between this and previous laser treatments?
Where previously there had been a need to have several different types of lasers, this new device offers several functions in one system. Additionally, Nordlys makes it possible to treat a large skin area in a single shot, and in a shorter amount of time. Professional dermatologists and surgeons across the country agree this is the greatest progress in aesthetic light treatments to come in many years.
What Is IPL and Hair Removal?
IPL, or intense pulsed light, is a treatment modality that is similar to laser therapy. However, IPL treats a larger area and uses a broad spectrum of light. The light emitted from the device has multiple wavelengths.
It travels through the skin, targeting and destroying the cells that make up skin imperfections. It can also lock onto melanin pigment cells in the hair bulb, or root, damaging the hair follicle to prevent future hair growth.
Other hair removal procedures can have side effects, such as chicken skin and ingrown hairs (from waxing), not to mention nicks and rashes (from shaving). Intense pulsed light hair removal is a painless way of attaining hair-free skin.
Am I an Ideal Candidate?
IPL is best applied to patients with dark hair and a light skin tone. Patients with light blond or red hair, and individuals with a naturally dark skin tone, may not be good candidates for IPL treatments due to risk of damage and skin discoloration.
Your IPL and Hair Removal Consultation
Your initial consultation will include a physical examination of your target areas. You will be asked about your medical history, including current medications and vitamins, previous treatments, and allergies. You will be informed of how this light therapy works and will be given instructions on how to prepare for your treatment.
Your IPL treatment begins with the cleansing of your target areas. A topical anesthetic may be applied, along with a cooling gel. You will be asked to wear eye protection for your safety.
Next, the handpiece will be used to emit pulses of light to the area. You might feel a slight stinging sensation during the procedure. The whole process may take 15 to 30 minutes.
IPL and Hair Removal Aftercare
There is no downtime or recovery period needed after your IPL treatment. You may resume your normal routine right after. The treated area may be red and slightly swollen for a few hours. Steer clear of hot baths, swimming, or sunbathing for the first 24 hours. Avoid tanning for the next several weeks.
Cost of IPL and Hair Removal Treatments
The cost of IPL and hair removal treatments depends on each client’s specific needs. The overall price may include the total number of sessions required and the size and locations of the areas being treated.
