Are You Suffering from Diastasis Recti?
Published on August 18, 2017 by Ian Lytle
The appearance of your abdomen depends on more than just the tightness of your skin and the amount of fat in the area – the abdominal muscles play a large role in the way your abdomen looks. But it is not only about how strong these muscles are. If the abdominal muscles become loose and begin to separate, it can create a noticeable stomach bulge that dieting and exercising can’t correct.
This condition is known as diastasis recti. Pregnant women are prone to developing this condition due to the strain that the abdominal muscles undergo as the area rapidly expands. This is why many women find it difficult to restore the appearance of their abdomen after having their child.
Diastasis recti can be corrected through abdominoplasty. During the procedure, the muscles along the abdominal wall will be tightly sutured together to correct any separation so that the abdomen has a flat and toned appearance.
If you are suffering from diastasis recti and are interested in abdominoplasty, contact Lytle Plastic Surgery to schedule a consultation with board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Ian Lytle.
